SEVEN BOTANICALS. A CLOSER LOOK AT THE RESEARCH.

Research below concerns specific ingredients or preparations, not the finished Special Water formula. Species, forms, doses, and participants differ. These findings do not establish that this product causes weight loss.

This 12-week, placebo-controlled study followed 90 adults with type 2 diabetes taking bitter melon extract. The drop in fasting glucose was a within-group change, and the abstract doesn't establish a significant between-group benefit. A separate adjunctive trial found no significant glucose or weight advantage.

The 12-week trial (2 g/day) in 58 people with type 2 diabetes improved HbA1c versus placebo, but waist and BMI were not significantly better than placebo. A separate cassia trial found no glucose-control benefit.

The 11-man crossover study used purified resveratrol (150 mg/day for 30 days) and reported changes in metabolic signaling markers. A separate 24-man, 4-week study found no improvement in insulin sensitivity, fat oxidation, or fat mass. Purified resveratrol results can't be assumed for this knotweed ingredient.

Identity is powdered green tea (Camellia sinensis); this product's catechin and caffeine content isn't specified. In the featured study, 13 women drank four 1-gram matcha drinks before a 30-minute brisk walk. A separate 12-woman crossover study (3 g/day for 3 weeks) also found higher fat oxidation during a 30-minute walk, without higher energy expenditure.

The preliminary 44-person study used a specially formulated curcumin-phosphatidylserine preparation alongside diet changes. A separate 30-person crossover trial (curcuminoids 1 g/day for 30 days) found no significant weight or body-fat change, though triglycerides improved. Specialized preparations are not interchangeable with an unspecified turmeric ingredient.

The 12-week study used a specialized licorice flavonoid oil (300 mg/day); the treated group largely maintained weight while placebo gained. A later study found no significant benefit. Licorice's glycyrrhizin content is a safety consideration — check the label and ask a clinician if you have blood pressure, heart, or kidney concerns.

This 6-week trial included 40 adults with type 2 diabetes taking 1,000 mg/day of coriander seed powder. Glucose and insulin-related markers improved, but body measurements did not differ significantly between groups. This is early, single-study evidence in one seed-powder form and dose.
